Conventional medical training, broader clinical questions.

I am a Functional Medicine Practitioner with a background in UK medicine and General Practice. That experience informs how I think about risk, evidence and context, but the Functional Medicine service offered through this website is separate from my NHS GP work and is focused on health education, nutrition, lifestyle and practical self-management.

Why I work this way

Medical training teaches you to ask an essential question: what disease or risk must not be missed? General Practice then teaches you something equally important: people rarely arrive as a single diagnosis. Their symptoms sit inside a much larger story of sleep, food, work, stress, movement, medication, relationships, ageing and previous illness.

Over time I became increasingly interested in the second question: what has changed in this particular person, which factors are genuinely modifiable, and what can they realistically do about them?

Functional Medicine gives me a useful framework for that longer conversation. I use it selectively rather than dogmatically, with the aim of helping people understand their own health well enough to make better decisions without becoming dependent on endless appointments, testing or supplements.

What you can expect

I will listen, challenge assumptions—including my own—and explain where the evidence is strong, weak or uncertain. The aim is to improve your understanding, confidence and ability to manage more of your own health.
